Regulations & Compliance

Watto Training complies with a number of safety standards, as well as regulations required by law to ensure that both staff and trainees participate in a safe and appropriate manner.

Legislative Requirements

In various states of Australia (though we primarily operate in Queensland), there is important legislation that Watto Training and it’s students and staff must abide by, including:

  • Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations
  • Vocational Education and Training Act (2012)
  • Human rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (HREOC) Act 1996
  • Anti-discrimination Acts
  • Copyright Act 1968
  • Equal Opportunity Act

Occupational Health and Safety

As a training organisation, we take OH&S very seriously and comply with Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act). We work to ensure that our training activities and environment do not put our staff or students or others around them at risk.

Eligibility

Not everyone is eligible to do all of our courses. Please check individual course pages for details on eligibility, or contact us if you are not sure whether you would be eligible.

You may also be required to provide certain equipment (in some cases, your own vehicle) in order to participate in training. You will be advised of this on the course information page.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Many of our trainees have completed courses previously or have existing experience that crosses over into the course they have signed up for. Rather than spending the time on this part of the course, we may be able to provide you with recognition of prior learning. Please contact us if you believe you may be eligible, as it may result in an accelerated qualification.

Flexibility

Our policy is to provide flexible training where possible. We are working to provide online and distance-based education components to allow greater flexibility, mixed in with in-person practical components.

Assessment

We carefully assess all our students in line with the courses they are completing, often including both practical (performance based) and theoretical (workbooks, exams, etc) to assess whether you can pass. We monitor and validate all student assessment regularly to ensure full compliance. We only issue qualifications to students who demonstrate safety and competence.

Privacy Policy

We take your privacy seriously. We are required to keep records on our students and may need to show these records to government organisations. In addition, it is your right (under the Privacy Act) to view and amend your records. If you wish to do so, please contact us. To see the privacy policy please refer to the Student Handbook

Complaints

If you have a complaint or feedback about any aspect of this business, we would appreciate it if you could bring it to the attention of our staff. We will work to resolve any problems where possible, and aim for 100% satisfaction.

ASQA Audit Information

As the national regulator of the vocational education and training (VET) sector, the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) aims for students, employers and governments to have full confidence in the quality of education and training provided by registered training organisations (RTOs) and providers registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).

ASQA identifies, analyses and evaluates key risks to assure quality in accordance with the VET Quality Framework, the National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2007 (the National Code) and the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act) ASQA is empowered by the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 and the ESOS Act to use a range of regulatory tools—including conducting audits—to gather data about the operations of applicant organisations and registered training organisations.

Below is the full report of Watto Training’s ASQA Audit which was finalised on 27 April 2015.
