GOVERNMENT SUBSIDISED TRAINING - CERTIFICATE 3 GUARANTEE
Watto Training (RTO 40791) has access to Certificate 3 Guarantee Program - funded by the Queensland Government for eligible applicants for the following:
TLI31216 – Certificate 3 in Driving Operations
NB: Watto Training does not offer this course via Third Party Providers.
The Certificate 3 Guarantee provides a government subsidy to support eligible individuals to complete their first post-school certificate 3 qualification. It also supports Queensland's Year 12 graduates to transition to employment by providing fee-free training in high priority qualifications.
The Certificate 3 Guarantee is targeted at certificate 3 qualifications because they are considered the entry-level qualification most often needed to gain employment in many industry sectors.

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE CERTIFICATE 3 GUARANTEE A STUDENT MUST:
- not hold or be already undertaking a certificate 3 or higher level qualification (certificate 3 qualifications completed at school are not counted)
- be 15 years of age or older
- have finished secondary school or left school
- Queensland resident – an Australian Citizen or permanent resident living in Queensland, or a New Zealand citizen permanently residing in Queensland.
Employment status does not matter, nor is there any minimum education requirement, only the standard entry requirements for the course of study.
Note: Eligibility for the entitlement under the Certificate 3 Guarantee is for one Government subsidised training place in a funded Certificate 3 qualification. It is very important that you take the time to decide which qualification would provide you with the best career pathway and compare your training options, providers and costs, before signing an enrolment form or committing to a course of study which will use up your entitlement.
Watto Training requires your full name as well as your date of birth to check your eligibility for funding.
If you already hold a certificate level 3 or higher qualification that was gained 1 July 2013, the Certificate 3 Guarantee is not applicable to your training. However, you are still able to enrol in your desired course under a non-subsidised, fee for service charge.
This pathway/price caters for students with Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process that allows the competencies students already possess to be recognised, regardless of how they obtained them. These might include skills students might have picked up on the job or from other life experiences that do not necessarily include formal training.
Examples of RPL:
- Truck driver
- Taxi driver
- Bus driver
- Courier driver
- Mining experience
- Transport and Logistics experience
- HR, forklift & vehicle crane operator
- Professional driving experience
- DG (dogging) experience
- Mechanical skills
- Trailer reversing
- Load Restraint Skills & Manual Handling
- WHS knowledge
In many cases, RPL will only give the off-the-job component of the unit. You may still need to meet the on-the-job component, assessed at work.
Students with no RPL will have to make a special request for admission into a course which may result in increased fees and timelines for completion.
Credit transfer recognises previous formal learning. It uses an assessment of a previous course or subject that an applicant has achieved to determine whether it can be credited to the new course in which the applicant wishes to enrol.
The assessment determines the extent to which your previous course or subject is equivalent to the required learning outcomes of the desired qualification.
Course Fees (Funding – Certificate 3 Co-contribution)
Non-Concessional: 18 units x $50 per unit ($900 – no GST)
Concessional: 18 units x $25 per unit ($450 – no GST)
NB: These prices do not include truck licence training for LR, MR, HR, HC, MC. Additional fees will be charged for these courses. Please call for a customised quote.
Course Fees (No Funding)
Full Course (no funding, no RPL): 18 units x $150 per unit ($2700 – no GST)
RPL* Pathway Course (no funding, RPL): 18 units x $100 per unit ($1800 – no GST)
NB: some applicants may have a RPL in some units, but not others. In such cases a customised quote and pathway will be provided prior to course enrolment.
RPL * Recognition of prior learning, also referred to as RPL, is the formal acknowledgement of a person's current skills and knowledge no matter how, when or where the learning occurred.
This is an important assessment pathway, particularly for people who are considering doing study. The recognition gained may considerably reduce the study time needed to get a qualification.
RPL is a process that must take place at the commencement of a person's funded training, apprenticeship or traineeship.
The RPL assessment may include workplace observation, interviews and professional conversations, work samples and documented evidence.
For Watto Training courses, a sound understanding of English, as well as basic English speaking, reading and writing skills, are required. Further, applicants must have basic mathematical skills.
Enrolment Application Forms include specific questions about educational experience and academic skills and the need for LLN support.
Pre‐Enrolment Short LLN Diagnostic Test in Reading and Numeracy is integrated into the Course Application Process. If a potential student has not completed any formal academic qualifications (e.g. Year 12 for the diploma or advanced diploma) and other entry requirements, they will be directed to complete a short LLN diagnostic test in Reading and Numeracy (free of charge). Potential students who have completed the formal academic qualifications may also complete the test but this is not compulsory for them.
If a student does not achieve the recommended ACSF level for the course in Reading and/or Literacy, Watto Training will advise them of this and discuss other study options with them.
